Inside Joke returns for another installment with comedian Todd Barry “in conversation.”
Todd Barry, with his laid back, mellow stage presence and melodic, sing-song-y delivery, engages an audience as few comedians can. A regular guest on late night talk shows, Barry has made a number of TV and film appearances (Comedy Central Presents, Dr. Katz, Spin City, and on the big screen in Road Trip and Pootie Tang), but it’s his stand-up that sets him apart from the rest of the fray, documented on his recently released CD, Medium Energy. Blending the two, Barry created a one-man show, Icky, based on his appearance (and the aftermath) of a taping of Conan and the alt.rec.conan’obrien reaction, which enjoyed a successful run at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater.

Barry claimed the Stand-Up Jury Award at the 1998 U.S. Comedy Arts Fest in Aspen.

Inside Joke is the monthly program that seeks to answer the question “What makes people laugh?” by inviting masters of the craft – stand-up comedians to sitcom writers and all points in between – onstage for a conversation about their work. Not a “how to” but a “how they do,” past guests include comedians Lewis Black, Marc Maron and Patrice O’Neal, writers and editors of The Onion, and cartoonist Ted Rall.
