I believe that Chelsea Studios, while very nice, is very expensive.

www.shetlerstudios.com 212-246-6655 Room 400 at Shetler Studios 939 8th Avenue location is inexpensive ($17 an hour) and just big enough for an eight-person improv team and their coach.

Players Theater 115 Macdougal Street 212-254-5076 $18/hour New York Spaces 939 8th Ave 212-397-1313 CAP21 starts at $18 and Atlantic starts at $15; I believe that Creative Acting is pricier (at night they charge a rather high "flat rate" if I remember correctly). More to follow...

257 w. 39th st. 212-307-7707 about $12/13 an hour and weist barron studios on 43rd street, I think (they are in the yellow pages online) is 10- 12 an hour. its a decent space but its a really bizarre place too. I cant explain it, its just weird, like a time warp or something.

Players has two $15/hour rooms that are a tad small but big enough. They have gone through at least once phase in which they stopped allowing improv groups but they're over that for now.
The only one on my list that's not here is this: NY Spaces: 799-5433;939 8th Ave 3rd Fl,131 W 72nd St I haven't used it in a while. It's too far uptown, and the spaces are too small. But in an emergency, it'll do. Champions on 39th street is acceptable, but not great -- too small. Lots of availablily though, and $15/hour. Spaces at the old Champions on 44th is a notch worse. And it's the slowest elevator in the city.

I will compile all this info into a table when we get it all in place. Let's work towards the growth of improv in NYC: more rehearsal groups, more teams, more improvisers.
