Hey there,

Anybody who knows Premiere at all, I'm having a heck of a time exporting clips for the web and making them look good at all.

Currently, I've been using Cleaner 5 EZ to export them, using the save for web option, and quicktime progressive download (Broadband and 28.8 sizes). They look terrible. You can watch them at http://www.elephantlarry.com and see what I'm talking about.

Any better options than what I'm doing? Should I be putting them in Windows Media or Realvideo, rather than Quicktime?

Thanks in advance,
Alex

Is it Premiere 6.0? I export to streaming windows media (WMV) by going to File -- export - Windows Media.......once the windows media screen comes up you can select either 256KB or 384KB.....this will be pretty decent quality and it will still be small enough for people to stream without interruption on DSL or Cable. Windows Media is smaller than Quicktime.....but if you want help exporting to quicktime directly from Premiere let me know.........I hate hate hate Real Video.

If you click my Ice Cream Fantastic link, watch a couple of videos, those were all encoded at 256K/Windows Media.....the file size is about 5MB for 3 minutes.

Thanks Choo Choo, I'll definitely try that this weekend. Anything is better than what I'm doing now, I think (even Real Video).

Do you have any ideas on maintaining a small file size, while having better quality through Quicktime, though?

I do have Premiere 6.0, by the way.

Thanks again, this is very helpful :)

Hey no problem...........

If you want higher quality quicktime files that aren't huge, you'll probably have to make the size of the video smaller.......Have you ever seen really good looking movie trailers online? A lot of them are really tiny......you can adjust the size of the video in project settings.....and then when you export it, try a higher quality.......even though you're choosing higher quality, the file size shouldn't be gigantic since the screen size is much smaller.................I'd prefer a larger video size and stick with Windows Media.....

This is not meant to be a plug, but the company I work for makes compression software for video on the Web called Sorenson Squeeze.

http://www.sorenson.com/

We also have a video deployment solution that starts at $25/month.

Yuck... I feel so slimey.
