Hey all

I work for a company that does video compression and hosting for the Web. I don't want to say who it is to avoid being accused of plugging inappropriately, but I will say that I am new to the whole online video deal and was hired more for my enterprise Web skills than codec programming skills.

My question is, where do you guys typically host your files when you get your videos produced? Do you do it on your own sites? Do you track down an Akaimai or some other CDN (Content Distribution Network - and no, I don't work for Akaimai)?

If nothing else, I hope this would be a nice way to get some ideas out there for newbies on where to host video for their own sites. But I am genuinely curious as to what folks are doing.

Thanks
Jesster

I think the sensible thing to do is get an inexpensive web hosting setup and then progressive stream everything. Unless you're doing a 24/7 or live channel.

Does your company have Quicktime Streaming Server, Windows Media Server or Real Server and can you serve live video to the internet?

I also host. We film, edit, compress, host both windows media, and quicktime in addition to interactive videos. We employ multiple servers and host video e-mail as well.
