good afternoon all,

i know shit about digital video. but i can change.

can anyone recommend anything to read so i can feel like less of a nimrod when it comes to dv as a medium - something that'll illustrate the nuts and bolts to somebody who was a complete fuckup when it came to science in high school?

thanks,

dunford

search

http://www.northernlight.com/
http://www.yahoo.com/
http://www.altavista.com/
http://www.google.com/

for "dv cam"
or
"mini-dv"
or
"3 ccd"

you'll find plenty of info there. don't buy a book till you've surfed the web for all the free info you can get. there are some http:// based news threads which discuss pros and cons of certain cameras

you may also want to search for

"dcr-pc110"
"dcr-vx2000"

to familiarize yourself with the tiny 1 chip and the phat 3 chip sony cameras

If you really feel you have to buy a book. I would also suggest a filmmaking book. From a production point of view a lot of the rules apply. The great thing about DV is that things can become a lot easier and more guerilla-like with a more portable DV camera.
