Wait...are you looking for a digital video camera or a digital still camera? I think you're looking for a digital still camera.

Regarding digital still cameras, I've used Kodak's mid-priced line (DC280), and a Fuji mid-priced camera...and I think the Fuji's software for loading the images into the computer was much better. The Fuji could mount (on the Mac desktop) just like a hard drive. The Kodak uses clunky software and is as slow as heck.

I've also used a Sony digital video camera (TRV900) that had still capabilities, and that was also fairly easy to use and download images to computer...as it had a floppy disk drive attachment.
